On May 22, the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone, together with the Confucius Institute at the University of Sierra Leone, held 2023 International Tea Day Cultural Experience Event at American Montessori Leadership Academy in Freetown. Ambassador Wang Qing and his wife Mme. Gu Shaohua attended this event together with representatives of the Confucius Institute at the USL, the "Small Small Chinese" project, teachers and students from the local schools.
In his statement, Ambassador Wang introduced the important role of tea in Chinese Culture and pointed that tea is a key bond between world civilizations. Ambassador Wang added that China is keen to work together with the international community to open up a new prospect of enhanced exchanges and understanding among different peoples, enhance better interactions and integration of diversified cultures and work together to implement the Global Civilization Initiative.
The participants enjoyed a feast of tea culture exchange in the common appreciation, and expressed their willingness to contribute to enhancing mutual understanding, cultivating friendship and promoting the sustainable development of China-Sierra Leone relations.
