The Chinese Embassy holds “Warm Children's Hearts: A China-Africa Joint Action” Event

On 26th May, 2023, the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone together with the Chinese Medical team held“Warm Children's Hearts: A China-Africa Joint Action” at the “Network with children in need”Orphanage in Freetown. Ambassador Wang Qing and his wife Mme. Gu Shaohua, Minister of Social Welfare, Hon. Mme. Baindu Dassama Kamara graced the event.

Ambassador Wang pointed out that, Mme. Prof. Peng Liyuan, wife of H.E. President Xi Jinping and the Chinese government have always cared for African women, children and youths. On the occasion of the International Children's Day, Prof. Peng has proposed an initiative “Warm Children's Hearts: A China-Africa Joint Action” together with Organization of African First Ladies for Development, hoping to convey warmth and care to the children, and help them to grow up healthy and happy. He stated that China will continue to uphold the spirit of China-Africa friendship, work closely with Sierra Leone, strengthen cooperation in various fields to build an even stronger China-Africa Community with a Shared Future.

Hon. Minister Kamara extended her sincere appreciation to Prof. Peng Liyuan for introducing the initiative “Warm Children's Hearts: A China-Africa Joint Action” in Sierra Leone. She thanked the Chinese Embassy and the Chinese Medical team on behalf of the government of Sierra Leone for their relentless efforts in making the celebration a success.

The event was climaxed with the distribution of food, toys, stationary and other items to the children and was followed by a medical check-up and treatment for the children in need.
