On September 30, 2024, the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone held a reception to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. In the presence of Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Madam Peagie Alghali delivered a speech on behalf of the Sierra Leone government. More than 300 people attended the reception, including Chief Justice Nicholas Browne-Marke, a large number of government ministers, deputy ministers, senior military officers, heads of diplomatic missions in Sierra Leone, Chinese nationals in Sierra Leone as well as friends from all walks of life.
In his speech, Ambassador Wang Qing reviewed the development achievements of the People’s Republic of China over the past 75 years since its founding. Looking ahead, he said that the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee has drawn a grand blueprint for further deepening reform comprehensively to advance Chinese modernization, opening up more opportunities for China and the world to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and achieve common development. China has always been committed to being a force for peace, stability and progress in the world, actively promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, and contributing Chinese wisdom and Chinese strength to deal with the world's risks and challenges.
Ambassador Wang introduced the main outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in 2024. He said that China and Sierra Leone have adhered to the principles of sincerity, friendship, equality and mutual support since the establishment of diplomatic relations more than half a century ago. The relationship has been a good example of China-Africa solidarity and cooperation. At the invitation of President Xi Jinping, President Bio visited China twice this year. The two sides reached a series of important consensus on further deepening the China-Sierra Leone Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership. China is willing to strengthen strategic synergy with the Sierra Leone side, and translate the important consensus of the two heads of state and the Ten Partnership Actions into practical cooperation results. We believe that with the joint efforts, China-Sierra Leone cooperation will gain more visible outcomes and better benefit the two peoples.
On behalf of the Government of Sierra Leone, Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh conveyed H.E. President Julius Maada Bio's greetings to H.E. President Xi Jinping and all Chinese people. He said that his presence at the reception, together with a large number of ministers, once again proved that the Sierra Leonean side cherishes the relationship between the two countries immensely. Sierra Leone sincerely thanks China for providing valuable support to Sierra Leonean economic and social development over the years and looks forward to further strengthening cooperation in various fields to better enhance the well-being of the two peoples. Sierra Leone has always adhered to the one-China principle and is willing to increase mutual support with China on multilateral issues and promote the building of a fairer and more reasonable international order.
Acting Foreign Minister Alghali warmly congratulated on the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, spoke highly of China's development achievements and the results of cooperation between the two countries in various fields. Alghali said that Sierra Leone and China enjoy deep friendship and close cooperation. The Sierra Leonean side is willing to work together with the Chinese side to continue to enhance the high level bilateral relations, strengthen the cooperation in the United Nations Security Council and other multilateral institutions, and push forward the Sierra Leone—China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership to make continuous progress.
