On 8th January, 2025, Ambassador Wang Qing and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Timothy Musa Kabba signed the Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation between the Two Governments.
Ambassador Wang said that this new agreement is a significant initiative for implementing the outcomes of the FOCAC summit and the important consensus of the two heads of states, and also symbolizes a good beginning of China-Sierra Leone practical cooperation in 2025. The agreement will provide new impetus for the two countries to deepen economic and technical cooperation and realize common development. China will work with Sierra Leone to accelerate implementation of the outcomes of the high-level visits, promote new progress in practical cooperation continuously, and build a community with a shared future for mankind.
Foreign Minister Kabba said that H.E. President Julius Maada Bio visited China twice in 2024, which propelled the Sierra Leone-China relationship into a new era of higher level. He thanked China for the long-term support for economic and social development of Sierra Leone, and praised the high degree of strategic alignment between the Ten Partnership Initiatives for Joining Hands to Advance Modernization for China and Africa and the Big 5 Game Changers of Sierra Leone. He said that the Sierra Leonean side looks forward to further strengthening practical cooperation between the two sides to better enhance the well-being of the two peoples.
