On February 27, 2026, the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone held the Awarding Ceremony of 2025-2026 Chinese Ambassador Scholarship and Grant. Ambassador Zhao Yong, Sierra Leonean Minister of Technical and Higher Education Haja Ramatulai Wurie, Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education Conrad Sackey, and 100 award-winning students attended the ceremony.

Ambassador Zhao stated that education is the cornerstone of national development, and China will continue to expand cooperation with Sierra Leone in the field of education, promote the growth and development of Sierra Leone's youth, provide impetus for Sierra Leone's national development, and contribute to the promotion of China-Sierra Leone friendship.

Minister Wurie and Minister Sackey thanked China for its long-term and valuable support to Sierra Leone's education sector and expressed their willingness to further deepen talent exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, and to continuously advance the friendship between Sierra Leone and China.
