On 30th May 2018, the Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, His Excellency WU Peng met with Sierra Leone’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon Mrs. Nimatulai Bah-Chang. They exchanged views on friendly cooperation between the two countries.
Ambassador WU congratulated Hon Bah-Chang on her appointment as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and highlighted the history of friendship between China and Sierra Leone. He noted that the two countries have shared a friendly tie and experienced a fruitful cooperation and that the new government under the New Direction policy would bring opportunities for the people of Sierra Leone. He said that he is looking forward to working with Hon. Bah-Chang to enhance cooperation that would support Sierra Leone’s social economic development.
The Deputy Minister expressed gratitude for the long standing support of the Chinese government towards Sierra Leone. She said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would continue to develop friendly cooperation with China and bring the benefits to the people of both countries. She pointed out that China has always offered a helping hand to Sierra Leone in public sectors including the public health and education. Noting that Sierra Leoneans were grateful for all the supports and that as Deputy Minister she was ready to cooperate with the Chinese Embassy to take the relationship to a new high.
