Notice on Airline Boarding Requirements for Certificates of Negative Nucleic Acid and Anti-Body Blood Tests Results

As the COVID-19 confirmed cases surge around the world, in order to reduce cross-border transmission of Covid-19, starting from November 6th, 2020 at 24:00, all Chinese and foreign passengers who are to fly from Sierra Leone to China should do as follows before boarding the flights.

I. All passengers travelling to China from Sierra Leone should take both PCR and IgM anti-body tests within 48 hours before departure(including sample-takings and testings) at the Sierra Leone-China Friendship Biological Safety Laboratory( Jui P3 Lab).

II. As there is no direct flight from Sierra Leone to China, all passengers should take PCR and IgM tests again in the transit country that has direct flight to China(hereinafter refered to as the transit country)within 48 hours before boarding the direct flight to China.

III. All passengers traveling to China, upon acquiring both the PCR and IgM tests negative results in Sierra Leone and in the transit country, are required to respectively apply at the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone and Chinese Embassies/Consulates in the transit country for a green health code with the "HS" mark(for Chinese nationals only) or a certified health declaration form(for foreigners only) by submitting certificates of negative results of both tests.

IV. The detailed procedures

Chinese Passengers Applying for Green Health Code with the "HS" Mark

Chinese passengers in Sierra Leone should upload to the WeChat Health Code app photos of their genuine negative nucleic acid and IgM anti-body tests results for the examination and verification by the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone, while in transit countries, Chinese passengers should upload to the WeChat Health Code app photos of their genuine negative nucleic acid and IgM anti-body test results for the examination and verification by the Chinese Embassies/Consulates there. Then they will get the green health code with the "HS" mark. All passengers must present the green code within its validity period to the airlines before boarding.

Non-Chinese Passengers Applying for Certified Health Declaration Form

Non-Chinese passengers in Sierra Leone should email the scanned copies of their negative nucleic acid and IgM anti-body tests results along with their passport information page and the signed health declaration forms to the Chinese Embassy inSierra Leone( zj_sle@mfa.gov.cn) for examination and verification, while in the transit country, Non-Chinese passengers should email the scanned copies of their negative nucleic acid and IgM anti-body tests results along with their passport information page and the signed health declaration forms to the Chinese Embassy/Consulate therefor examination and verification.The Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone and the Chinese Embassy/Consulate in the transit countrywill email the stamped certified health declaration forms back to the passengers respectively. Passengers are advised to print the forms and bring them to the airport. They must present the forms within its validity period to the airlines before boarding.

V. Reminder

Please read the requirements carefully and follow them accordingly. Failure to obtain the green health code with the "HS" mark or a certified health declaration form with negative nucleic acid and IgM anti-body tests results means the passenger will be refused to board the flight to China and will have to change his/her itinerary.

Please check the transit country's entry regulations,including visa requirements and its nucleic acid and IgM anti-body tests requirements beforehand. Failure to enter the transit country or meet the requirements regarding the tests, the green code or certified health declaration form could result in being stranded and facing heightened infection risks.

All passengers who are flying to China are advised to refer to websites of the Chinese embassies/consulates in the main transit countries such as Belgium, France, Kenya and Ethiopia for detailed information. According to the latest notices on airline boarding requirements issued by the relevant Chinese Embassies, Belgium, France, Kenya and Ethiopia are not equipped with fast PCR and IgM tests facilities at the relevant airports, and passengers are therefore advised to avoid use the above-mentioned countries as transit countries.

The Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone will keep the general public updated about the latest information thereof.
