Chinese Embassy Holds Second Information Salon

On November 17th 2021, the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone held its second online Information Salon with media friends and friendship organizations to exchange information on China’s development and China-Sierra Leone relations.

The Salon was attended by H.E Chinese Ambassador Hu Zhangliang and diplomats of the Embassy, Honorable Ibrahim Ben Kargbo, Chairman of Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Sierra Leone, Parliament Members Hon. Aiah Kassehgbama, Hon. Loloh Tongi, Hon. Unpha Koroma, President of SLAJ Mr. Ahmed Nasralla, station managers, editors and journalists from various media institutions.

Ambassdor Hu introduced the main contents of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the preparation work of the 8th Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) to be held in Senegal, the Taiwan question and relevant information about the virtual meeting between President Xi Jinping and President Joe Biden of the United States.

Hon. Ibrahim Ben Kargbo and other Hon. MPs expressed their admiration over China’s rapid development and highly commended China’s flourishing relationship with Sierra Leone and other African countries. They reaffirmed their support for the One-China policy.

The Embassy diplomats answered questions related to China’s economic development, climate change response, whole-process people’s democracy, fighting Covid-19, 2021Beijing Winter Olympic Games. Members of forth estate shared their insights on relevant topics.
