On August 21, 2026, the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone helds the 2026 Farewell Ceremony for Sierra Leonean Students Supported by The Chinese Government Scholarship Program. Zhao Yong, Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Wurie, Minister of Technical and Higher Education and Logan, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. More than 150 guests including newly Scholarship awardee, representatives of the Overseas Student Association attend the event.

Zhao Yong extended his sincere congratulations to all scholarship recipients, expected them work hard and serve as ambassador of goodwill to help deepening mutual understanding and strengthen the friendships. Sierra Leonean officials spoke highly of bilateral cooperation with China in education and other fields and encouraged the students to cherish the opportunity, strive for academic achievements, and devote themselves more actively to Sierra Leone's national development after graduation.
