The Charge d'  Affaires a. i. of the Chinese Embassy Mr. Dai Yuming on the 11th November at the National Electoral Commission (NEC) presented four computers and accessories, one motor cycle and two eleven KV generators to the Chairperson of the NEC Ms. Christiana Thorpe.

Mr. Dai stated that the donation represents a gesture of sincere support from the Chinese people to the Sierra Leonean side, for its electoral process, its democratic process, and furthermore its postwar rebuilding. He also expressed his confidence that with the joint efforts of the Sierra Leonean people and the international community the NEC will successfully carry out its holy duty and fulfill its glorious mission.

Ms Thorpe on behalf the NEC staff expressed her gratitude to the Chinese side, and stated that these gifts donated were the first batch of material assistance the NEC had received and would start the Commission on a good footing.
