2006-01-13 00:00

On 13 January 2006, Chinese Ambassador H. E. Mr. Cheng Wenju held a symposium with members of Sino-Sierra Leone Alumni Association (SISLAA). 15 members from SISLAA and some Chinese diplomats presented.

Ambassador delivered a speech at the beginning of the symposium, hoping that members of SISLAA bear in mind the feelings of patriots and the sense of historic mission, fully apply the knowledge and technology they have learned in China, and play an energetic role in the maintenance of the stability of the society, the recovery of the economy, and the reconstruction of their country. He expected that each one of them could become an envoy of goodwill, and continually introduce China to more and more people.

President of SISLAA, Dr. Abu-Kpawoh, reviewed the development of SISLAA, and hoped to reinforce cooperation with the Chinese Embassy and contribute to the friendship of Sierra Leone and China. Members from SISLAA recalled their experiences in China, and proposed their plan for future work.

Chinese Diplomats from the Political Section, the Administrative Section, and the Economic and Commercial Office respectively introduced achievements in bilateral relations, military assistance, cultural and educational exchanges as well as economic and commercial cooperation. In the end, the Political Counselor Mr. Dai Yuming made a summary.

After exchanging views, everybody shared refreshments, and enjoyed Chinese programs. Later President and other members from SISLAA sang several Chinese songs, such as 'Big China', and 'Smiling Face', saying that they felt as if in China again.
