At the invitation of Sierra Leone China Friendship Society, a delegation from the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) has paid a friendly visit to Sierra Leone from December 8 to 12, 2005. Headed by Mr. Wang Daoyu, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of Shandong Provincial People's Congress, the Chinese guests in the number of fourteen were respectively received by H. E. Vice President Solomon Berewa, Speaker of the Parliament Edmond Cowan, Acting Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamara and Minister of Lands Bobson Sesay who doubles as the Chairman of the Sierra Leone China Friendship Society.

Vice President Berewa on behalf of H. E. President Kabbah, expressed his warm welcome to the Chinese delegation, saying that under the efforts of the government and people of the two countries, the Sino-Sierra Leone friendship and bilateral relations have been constantly strengthened and Sierra Leone is extremely appreciative and grateful for China's support and assistance before, during and after the civil war. Mr. Wang on behalf of the visiting team gave his thanks to Vice President Berewa for his audience and pointed out that China and Sierra Leone are both developing countries with the similar historical experience and the common development tasks, and the bilateral cooperation between the two countries enjoys a solid foundation and broad prospect. Mr. Wang said the Chinese side highly appreciates Sierra Leone's adherence to "One China" principle and wishes to keep close cooperation with the latter in international affairs.

During its stay in Sierra Leone, the delegation attended a cocktail party at China House organized by Sierra Leone China Friendship Society and watched the traditional cultural performance there. The Chinese guests were deeply impressed by the enthusiasm and sincerity of Sierra Leonean people. The delegation also inspected the National Trade and Industrial Zone at Cline Town with a view of assessing the current situation of Chinese companies and the investment environment in Sierra Leone.
