On the afternoon of November 22, the 2005 Sierra Leone International Commodities Exhibition and Trade Fair held its opening ceremony at the Henan Guoji Trade and Industrial zone, a Chinese investment project in Sierra Leone. The Exhibition was co-hosted by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce and the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Sierra Leone, and undertaken by Henan Goji Investment and Development Company Limited. The ceremony was graced by H. E. President Kabbah, Hon. Vice President Berewa, Cabinet Ministers, H. E. Chinese Ambassador Cheng Wenju, the respective Presidents of the Sierra Leone and Chinese Chambers of Commerce, and other dignities in the industrial and commercial circles.

On the basis of the cooperative agreement reached by Henan Guoji Investment and Development Company Limited and the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Sierra Leone, the Henan Guoji Trade and Industrial zone was established and open for business in April, 2005. Up to now there have been fifteen companies stationed in the Zone. During the one-month Exhibition, a wide range of commodities from some Chinese companies and indigenous ones will be displayed.
