Assistant Foreign Minister of the People's Republic of China welcomed by the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone

On October 17th, H. E. Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, welcomed H. E. Mr. Lu Guozeng, Assistant Minister of the Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, who arrived in Freetown on the previous day for a working visit.

H. E. Mr. Lu conveyed the warm greeting and best wishes from H. E. Mr. Hu Jintao, President of the People's Republic of China, to H. E. President Kabbah. H. E. Mr. Lu stated that the bilateral relations between China and Sierra Leone develop successfully and the two countries enjoy effective cooperation in the political and economic fields since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Sierra Leone in 1971. H. E. Mr. Lu said that The Chinese Government appreciates the Sierra Leonean Government's adherence to the One China Policy, and is willing to join hands with the Sierra Leone Government to strengthen political dialogue, promote economic and trade cooperation in actual ways and develop the bilateral relations further.

H. E. President Kabbah asked the Assistant Minister to convey his greeting to H. E. Mr. Hu Jingtao while welcoming the Chinese Delegation. H. E. President Kabbah emphasized that Sierra Leone will continue adhering to the One China Policy, and would like to reinforce the cooperation between the two countries in the fields of politics, economy and trade including the reform of the United Nations.

Invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Sierra Leone, the Chinese Assistant Minister also hold a working discussion with Hon. Mr. Momodu Koroma, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Sierra Leone. Following the talk, the two sides signed an agreement on economic and technical cooperation between the two countries.
